Overview
We are looking for a Software Engineer in Test to help make our customers’ experience better, by always coming up with new ideas and solving problems. The right person cares about the customer’s journey, is highly motivated, curious, good at figuring things out, and enjoys building and improving things.
Unlike similar quality/testing jobs at other companies, this role at Mastercard needs solid knowledge and real hands-on software experience. You’ll work closely with developers and team leads to build test cases, set up testing tools, and review code to help improve development.
The Role
- Play a key role in helping improve quality so we can build and deliver better products.
- Guide how we test software and follow Mastercard’s standards to help build high-quality software.
- Help make quality a normal part of how we build software.
- Watch customer feedback and issues in real use to find ways to improve product quality.
- Push for more automated testing and self-service tools as part of how we deliver software.
- Be the first person to review project work, walkthroughs, and checks.
- Be known as the expert in your area of knowledge.
- Work closely with key people involved, and possibly outside partners too.
All About You
- Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in Computer Science or equal work experience (Must)
- Able to work in a fast-moving, “start-up” style workplace.
- Must have hands-on experience with the skills listed below.
- Strong organizing and problem-solving skills, with close attention to detail. (Must)
- Good at planning test strategy in a clear, structured way, focused on getting things done. (Must)
- Experience in Unit, Functional, and Integration testing. (Must)
- Real experience building and using test automation tools with Java. (Must)
- Experience testing different types of systems: Microservices, Event-Driven Apps, and Databases (Must)
- Experience testing different protocols (SFTP/sockets/HTTPs/RPC, etc.) and know how CI/CD pipelines work (Must)
- Know how to use code coverage tools to check more of the code works correctly. (Must)
- Experience working with Agile methods. (Must)
- Experience working with other developers to make sure systems are reliable, fast, and easy to test. (Must)
- Experience building applications using Java. (Preferred)
- Experience with security testing tools. (Preferred)
- Hands-on experience in Java scripting, Groovy (Preferred)
- Hands-on experience in Chaos Testing. (Preferred)
- Knowledge of payment simulation tools or ISO payment protocols (8583) and (20022) is a plus. (Preferred)
- Hands-on experience with Application Release Automation (ARA). (Preferred)
- Some knowledge of Software Engineering basics. (Preferred)
