What Youll Be Doing (position summary):
Designs, builds, and maintains Power BI reporting and analytics solutions that enable Operations and business teams to make data-driven decisions. Works with stakeholders to define requirements and KPIs, translates needs into curated datasets, semantic models, dashboards, and actionable insights, and contributes to the data foundation through SQL and Databricks (light-to-medium transformations and curated data layers) as needed. Ensures analytics assets are accurate, performant, well-governed, and easy to use.
How Youll Succeed (responsibilities):
- Partner with Operations and business stakeholders to understand processes, KPIs, and reporting needs; translate requirements into user-friendly analytics solutions.
- Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports with strong visual design, performance optimization, and clear storytelling for executive and operational audiences, including building reusable measures, KPI cards, and (where appropriate) leveraging custom visuals/components to improve usability.
- Build curated datasets and analytical models using SQL and Databricks (e.g., notebooks/ETL/ELT) to support trusted, reusable reporting and self-service analytics.
- Design semantic models in Power BI (data modeling, relationships, measures) and develop robust DAX calculations (measures, time intelligence, and reusable KPI logic) aligned to agreed KPI definitions.
- Implement data quality checks, reconciliation, and monitoring to ensure accuracy and consistency across sources, models, and reports.
- Apply governance and security best practices (workspace/dataset access, row-level security where applicable), documentation, and change control for analytics products.
- Perform exploratory analysis to derive insights, identify trends/anomalies, and provide recommendations that improve operational efficiency and business outcomes.
- Enable self-service analytics by creating curated datasets, data dictionaries, and usage guidance; coach end users on interpreting dashboards and metrics.
- Identify creative ways to deliver insights (e.g., interactive storytelling, narrative summaries, alerts, and guided self-service) and support capability uplift by enabling business users on available analytics features (including Databricks Genie where applicable).
- Support production reporting by troubleshooting issues, performing root-cause analysis, and delivering enhancements with minimal disruption to stakeholders.
CROSS-FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
- Partners with Operations and business teams to define KPIs, reporting requirements, and decision workflows.
- Collaborates with data engineering and platform teams to align on data sourcing, transformations, and modeling in SQL/Databricks environments.
- Works with technology, risk, and information security partners to ensure appropriate access controls, data handling, and compliance for analytics assets.
- Partners with product owners and project teams to prioritize analytics roadmaps and deliver incremental value.
- Engages with BI administrators/support teams for workspace management, deployments, and operational support.
- Coordinates with data owners and subject-matter experts to validate definitions, lineage, and data quality.

Who You Are (skills/qualifications):
Must Have Skills:
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in BI/data analytics and reporting in an enterprise environment.
- Proven experience delivering dashboards end-to-end: requirements, data sourcing, modeling, visualization, validation, and rollout/adoption.
- Strong hands-on experience with Power BI (Power Query, data modeling, DAX, performance tuning, publishing and workspace management).
- Proficiency in SQL (complex queries, performance optimization, data profiling, and dimensional modeling concepts).
- Experience with Python (e.g., pandas) for analysis, automation, and data validation
- Experience with Databricks for data engineering/analytics (notebooks, transformations, orchestration patterns) and working with large datasets.
- Experience building reliable data pipelines (ETL/ELT), handling slowly changing data, and implementing data quality checks.
- Understanding of data governance fundamentals (data definitions, lineage, access controls, and privacy/security considerations).
- Familiarity with source control and release practices for analytics (e.g., Git), and documenting requirements, logic, and metric definitions.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills; able to translate complex data into clear storytelling, recommendations, and decision-ready insights for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Analytical and detail-oriented; comfortable working in ambiguity, prioritizing requests, and iterating quickly to improve dashboard usability, stakeholder adoption, and operational efficiency
Good to Have:
- Experience partnering with Operations teams and/or working with regulated data and controls (financial services preferred) is a strong asset.
- Strong dimensional data modeling experience (e.g., star schema, Kimball concepts) for analytics and reporting.
- Experience with data visualization libraries/tools (e.g., Plotly, Python visualization libraries).
