What the role is all about:

We’re looking for a Lead Full Stack Developer with 5-9 years of experience. This person will be the main technical guide for a team. The job is hands-on and focuses on completing tasks, with deliver complex features, create system solutions, and ensure high quality, performance, and reliability in production work.

The Lead Developer is a strong technical expert who leads with knowledge, not by managing people. Success in this role means strong ownership of code and systems, making smart design choices, delivering reliably, and helping the team improve through mentoring.

This role is important for building and enhancing REA’s advertising platforms and data-driven products used widely.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Execution:

• Deliver complex, important features across the full technology stack.
• Write, review, debug, and test code that matches REA’s standards.
• Set a good example in code quality, security, and maintenance.
• Participate in pair programming, code reviews, unit testing, and secure deployments.
• Consider trade-offs in performance, reliability, ability to scale, and delivery time.
• Take responsibility for technical work from creation to production.

Design & Architecture:

• Create solutions that follow design patterns and system limits.
• Help with system-level design and support larger design choices.
• Lead technical tests and proofs of concept when needed.
• Work with Tech Leads and Engineering Managers to make sure designs match the long-term goals.

System Ownership:

• Make sure the health of systems in production, focusing on reliability and performance.
• Identify and fix risks, scaling issues, and technical debt early.
• Support problem analysis, fix issues, and improve system stability.
• Make sure solutions can be run and ready for production.

Delivery Leadership:

• Help with planning, estimating, and organize work for reliable delivery.
• Spot risks and issues between teams, and help remove blockers for the team.
• Work with Engineering Managers, Product, and Delivery teams to balance scope, quality, and timelines.
• Support good teamwork.

Technical Leadership:

• Guide engineers through code reviews, design talks, and technical advice.
• Share knowledge through technical sessions and informal coaching.
• Help improve technical standards and strong engineering practices in the team.
• Build a collaborative, inclusive, and focused on learning culture.

What We’re Looking For:

• Experience building and running full-stack systems using modern JavaScript/TypeScript tools (React, Node.js).
• Ability to manage complex features and deliver them reliably.
• Good system design skills, with experience improving systems over time.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS), containers (Docker), and monitoring tools
• Good understanding of TDD (Test-Driven Development), CI/CD, and modern delivery practices.
• Experience in Media/AdTech (like bidding platforms, DSPs/SSPs, tagging, CDPs, privacy technologies) is a plus.
• Ability to influence technical decisions without formal authority.
• Clear communicator who works well with different teams and global colleagues.
• Practical problem-solver who balances quality with getting things done
• Experience with relational and/or non-relational databases (like SQL Server, DynamoDB).

Bonus Skills:

• Experience with GraphQL, PHP, Functional Programming, or AWS-native systems.
• Experience building systems that can handle high traffic.
