Job Description

Insight Global is looking for an Android Video Player Engineer for their large media and entertainment clients. This is 6-month contract (likely extensions) and is remote. You will be joining the Digital Video Platform organization that leads the video and player engineering teams responsible for this company’s digital video ecosystem (Sports, News, Entertainment), including live and VOD offerings. This team builds video player frameworks which are then consumed by a variety of the clients apps; sports, news, weather, Venu. This team builds the video players that these other teams integrate into their specific platforms/apps (Roku, iOS, Android). This team gets product requests from different business units across the org and they need to prioritize them ( it might be to build a feature specific to weather, to sports etc). They also assist these BU’s with integrations. This is a mid level-senior engineering role where the successful candidate must understand how live streaming video works, how to optimize it and how to optimize video players for best user experience. This person will face challenges such as finding rebuffering issues, improving start times of videos, solving things like how to do DVR and allow someone to scrub forward and backwards on live streams.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 4-5+ years of Android development/engineering experience
  • Experience with Video Player Engineering
  • Experience with Kotlin/Java Experience with ExoPlayer framework
  • Experience working on/supporting a Live video streaming application and experience enhancing playback experience, buffering strategies etc
  • Knowledge of streami

Compensation:

$25/hr to $30/hr USD or (41 to 50 LPAs)

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching.
