This role will support legal compliance activities across relevant Indian company branches and locations, including social security work, payroll-related legal compliance, legal filings and records, employee benefit case handling, support for vendor and contract labour compliance, audit paperwork, coordination for government notices and inspections, support for the transition to the new Labour Codes, tracking of regulations, and digital compliance projects. The role will also handle employee-level questions about statutory benefits for both current and former employees, make sure EPF/ESIC and related cases are completed on time, keep accurate records, coordinate with different teams, and pass on complex, VIP, complaint-related, or sensitive government matters to the Functional Head / Senior Manager for review and resolution.
Key Responsibilities
Legal Compliance Operations Support
- Support day-to-day compliance work under relevant central and state labour laws, including EPF, EPS, EDLI, ESIC, Gratuity, LWF, Professional Tax, Shops and Establishments, Minimum Wages, Bonus, Maternity Benefit, Employment Exchange, and other location-specific labour rules.
- Make sure monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, and yearly legal tasks, filings, records, payment challans, returns, confirmations, and supporting documents are completed on time.
- Track assigned compliance deadlines, pending cases, how long they’ve been open, proof of closure, and points needing escalation for regular leadership review.
Labour Code Readiness and Transition Support
- Help prepare for the rollout of the four new Labour Codes, including the Code on Wages, Code on Social Security, Industrial Relations Code, and Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code.
- Help match old legal requirements to the new Labour Code requirements, including how wages are defined, appointment letter rules, social security coverage, working conditions, records, returns, and digital compliance needs.
Employee Benefits Query Management and Legal Case Handling
- Handle employee-level questions about statutory benefits raised through online service desk platforms, the Alumni Portal, emails, and other approved channels, for both current and former employees.
- Do the first review of queries — sorting, classifying, routing, following up, and tracking closure — and pass on complex cases, VIP queries, complaints, and sensitive government matters for review and resolution.
- Carry out EPF transfer, withdrawal, pension, EDLI settlement, ESIC enrolment, UAN activation, e-Nomination, Aadhaar linking, DBT setup, and related statutory benefit transactions on relevant digital platforms.
- Manage death claim cases, including verifying nominees, confirming legal heirs, following up on documents, coordinating settlements, and escalating to the Functional Head / Senior Manager whenever government contact or legal review is needed.
- Handle complex statutory benefit cases such as blocked UANs, duplicate UANs, old records, overlapping employment, pension eligibility issues, and portal errors, while flagging issues to the Functional Head / Senior Manager for government contact wherever needed.
- Coordinate with Payroll, HRSS, and Finance for employee benefit matters, payroll-related legal corrections, checking contributions, employee data issues, and supporting documents.
- Support employee outreach for UAN activation, e-Nomination, Aadhaar linking, DBT setup, and other statutory benefit activities.
Contract Labour and Vendor Compliance Support
- Support compliance activities for contract labour and manpower vendors, including checking deployments, monthly vendor audits, reviewing legal documents, and tracking compliance proof.
- Coordinate issuing Form V, checking contractor licences, maintaining principal employer records, and vendor compliance dashboards in line with CLRA and Labour Code transition rules.
- Follow up with compliance partners and business teams to make sure gaps, escalations, corrective actions, and audit findings are closed on time.
